Evaluate and refine requirements for life support equipment that will support future missions.This position has been posted at multiple levels. Model physical and chemical processes, and size equipment performing life support functions for long duration space flights. Correlate water and air process simulation models to test results. Simulate and evaluate performance of life support systems for future NASA vehicles and habitats including the Orion spacecraft and vehicles capable of lunar or Mars missions. And other initiatives to improve products and processes related to quality.
Strong communication skills in a team environment. Strong technical writing skills and the ability to use data to draw conclusions and support the conclusions when challenged. Programming knowledge in one or more of the following: FORTRAN, C, Visual Basic. Capable of developing simulation models of air and water purification processes at varying levels of fidelity ranging from detailed, first-principle models to more descriptive lumped-parameter models. BS degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
